WATER SOFTENING

Water softeners eliminate limescale from hard water either on the incoming main or on the cold feed to an appliance such as a dishwasher or plate heat exchanger.

As part of the regeneration process a small amount of water is used to rinse the media (similar to a washing machine) which means the unit needs to be connected to a drain and an electrical supply, similar to those used by a washing machine. The water softener cabinet also needs to be periodically topped up with softener salt.
