IRON REDUCTION
Closely related, iron and manganese are twin troublemakers. Even where
their concentrations in water are low, they cannot be ignored. Iron
presents the greater problem only because it appears more frequently.
The presence of iron alone or in combination with manganese leads to
staining problems.
As specialists in iron reduction we recommend that the chemistry of the water
is carefully analysed before any decision regarding the filtration method is
decided.
Pictured right is an iron reduction system with an aerator column installed on
a borehole where the iron levels were 9 mg/l.
